does anyone else think the top one looks like a shark at first? cool images

having spent a good while looking into this for my dissertation, i can reliably (hopefully) inform you that the top image at least has been created by distorting an equilateral projection of a 360ºx180º panorama (quite possibly made by stitching images together, although i can't vouch for this particular photographer's method) into a hyperbolic projection with extreme latitude shift, using software akin to flaming pear's "flexify" plug-in for photoshop.

or in laymans terms, faffed about with a big panorama.

either way, it looks tasty.
