Alexander Overwijk draws a perfect freehand circle 1m in diameter in less than a second.
I heard the story somewhere in an art history class about Tintoretto being asked by messengers from the current pope to send sketches for a competition for a commission of some kind. Tintoretto picked up a bit of paper, drew a perfect circle on it, and gave it to the messengers, who said, -what is this? Tintoretto responded, -give this to the pope he will understand. Which is how he laded the commission.
My memory is not what it was; could have been any drawing master of the day, and any potentate as well. The iconic moment of human mastery is the same.
